Three Years

David and I celebrated our three year anniversary yesterday.  It's amazing to think of all that has happened in three short years!  I could not be happier with my life... my amazing husband, our miracle baby, being able to stay home with Grady, our wonderful house, great friends... I am so blessed.

Ya Ya took us to dinner for our anniversary at Mario's.  It was wonderful!  So yummy.  Grady was so good.  He sat up in a high chair and ate pieces of bread until David suggested giving him half of a roll which he gnawed on for a half hour.

Today we are just going to lay low.  I am still working on sorting all of Grady's baby clothes to put away.  That is my main goal of the day.  Happy Thursday!

Ten on Tuesday

I have been a bad blogger lately and I need to get back on task.  Things are good here.  Grady is a busy 10 month old ... with a tooth!  Yes!  He got his first tooth at 10 months and 1 day.  And he is so proud of it.  I tried to get in and get a picture, but I have not managed... I may try to tackle that this afternoon.

We have a busy day ahead of us.  Grady is getting ready for his nap and then we are off...
1.  We need to go to the Hallmark store to get David an anniversary card for our 3 year wedding anniversary tomorrow.
2.  We need to get gas in the truck.
3. Stop at Sam's or BJ's and pick up some more formula for Grady.
4.  I need to finish putting Grady's "baby" clothes in Rubbermaid boxes to be stored.
5.  It's time to get the winter comforter out and put that and the warm fussy blanket back on the bed.
 6.  I need to copy a bunch of recipes from the Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook so I can return it to Jen
7. I need to order Joe's shower invitations....she is having a GIRL!
8.  Weather permitting, we may try to get a walk in
9.  Contact the Dr's office to see if the Flu Vaccine is in yet
10.  Enjoy my day with my little man!

I love this picture of David and Grady.  David loves to get his neck and Grady just squeals with delight!

We're Back

Hi everyone.  We've been away for a few days.  David had to go to the Boston area for work on Friday, so we packed up the truck and went with him.  This was Grady's first visit to another state and hotel stay.  We left Thursday afternoon and arrived shortly before 10 p.m..  Grady did great, but he protested the last hour or so in the car.

Friday morning, we dropped David off at work and we went exploring.  Thank goodness for GPS, as it made exploring much easier.  I searched for a mall and was thrilled when there was one only 4 miles away.  Unfortunately, when I pulled in, I noticed it was a strip mall rather than a real mall.  It ended up being a great discovery.  We went to a Target (gotta love them regardless of where they are), a Trader Joe's -- I loved it!  I wish that we had one in Rochester... we need something to give Wegman's a run for their money!  We also went to a Whole Foods which was great.  Almost everything was organic and I was surprised that their prices were not any more than Wegman's.  One thing that I noticed was that everyone brought their own bags to the grocery stores.  At Trader Joe's each time you bring your own bag, you get entered into a monthly drawing for a $25 gift certificate.  At Whole Foods, they give you a nickel back for each bag you bring.  It was very impressive to see.  It made me realize that I need to be much more conscious of this as well.

Saturday we drove about an hour and a half and visited my friend Fabre and her family!  It was so much fun to see them.  Fabre and I met a year ago at a scrapbook event in NH.  We keep in touch via email, but have seen each other three times this summer, as she and her husband were vacationing in the Finger Lakes this summer and we were able to spend a couple of days with them and then I had a chance to have dinner with them on their way through to Toronto.  We went on a Kitchen Tour that was hosted by their local garden club.  That was so much fun.  We put Grady in the Baby Bjorn and he did great. He loved it!  On Saturday evening, we took the train into Boston and had yummy Italian and finished the evening with some amazing pastries from Modern Pastry.  (We only stood in line for about 40 minutes for our goodies.)

On Sunday we were hoping to visit the zoo, but unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and because it was raining, we decided to have breakfast and head for home.  We got home around 6 p.m.  and were happy to be back in our own home.  Grady was thrilled to see his toys, excersaucer and the floor where he could stretch out and roll around.

Although I lugged the camera with us, I only took two pictures of a flock of wild turkeys that crossed the road in front of us on our way to a house on the kitchen tour.  Fabre took a few and I will post them once I get them!

One Shot Photo Shoot

This was the only picture I managed to get of Grady on Friday, while we were outside.  I had this grand vision of having a photo shoot outside, but unfortunately, my subject did not want to cooperate and neither did the acorns that were falling all around us.

We were hoping to go to the concert last night, but due to the cooler weather and threat of rain, we ended up just having dinner with the Pendells and Howies at my mom's house.  It was fun to see everyone and just spend time eating Pizza and Wings and laughing.

We are looking forward to this week.  Lots going on...  I am off to Bunko tonight and Daddy and Grady are going to have some time together tonight.  I have been having some problems with my knee that I had surgery on in the 90's so I am headed to the Dr. tomorrow to get that looked at.  The biggest excitement of the week will come on Thursday when we learn what kind of baby Joe is having!  (For those of you who do not know, Joe is my best friend... of 16 years and she and her husband are expecting a baby in late January and we could not be more thrilled for her!)  David may have to travel for work... to the Boston area and if he does, Grady and I will be joining him in order to see my good Fabre and her family!

On a sad note, we learned this weekend that David's uncle Joe passed away.  I know that David has so many fond memories of his Uncle Joe (and his wife Aunt Alice) who used to take David and his sisters camping while they were growing up.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend the funeral, but our thoughts are with Aunt Alice during this time of loss.

We All Scream for ICE CREAM!

Grady had his first taste of ice cream on Saturday night.  David, Ya Ya, Grady and I went to our favorite ice cream store... Cold Stone Creamery.  David sacrificed his favorites... chocolate cake batter and had boring French Vanilla (which we both agreed that was not one of Cold Stone's specialties).  Grady loved the ice cream.  We only gave Grady a couple of tiny bites, but he loved them!  He's getting to be such a big boy.  He desperately wants to feed himself and he just wants to go, but his body is not letting him yet.  So, he gets frustrated and grunts.

Tonight we are off to a concert at one of the parks with Ya Ya, the Howies, and the Pendells.  Grady loves music so I am excited to see how he responds.

Conversation with Ya Ya

Late yesterday afternoon, Grady was taking a nap and I heard the UPS truck on our street.  I did not think to much of it because I was not expecting any packages.  So, while Grady was still sleeping, I ran outside to get the mail and propped up against our front door was  a BIG (not to thick) box.

I must admit, I get excited when I get a package that I am not expecting.  As I got closer to the package I could see what it was... a baby walker and it was addressed to Grady.  I brought the box into the house and picked up the phone and called Ya Ya.  This was our conversation...

Hello?  (Ya Ya)
Did you buy Grady a walker? (me)
I don't know what you are talking about. (Ya Ya)
You're crazy! (me)
Oh-can you not say that out loud?  (Ya Ya)
You really wanted him to have a walker, huh?  (me)
Grady told me that he felt trapped and that he could not go anywhere, so I told him not to worry that Ya Ya would fix that.  (Ya Ya)

Let's just say that I am in trouble.  Of course I am always thankful for how much my mom spoils Grady and how generous she is... but I can only imagine what it is going to be like when he starts to talk!  Some day I just know a pony is going to end up in our back yard!

Our End of Summer Weekend

We had a quick Labor Day weekend.  Not sure where the summer went, but it is now officially over.  We had a nice weekend.  We got a bunch of lawn work done and things done around the house.  Grady had his first opportunity to help David with his Fantasy Football draft.  It was so cute... as David held Grady and told him all about Fantasy Football -- "Fantasy Football is for all of us who are not good enough to play football".

Yesterday we had a pre-thanksgiving dinner at YaYa's house, where she made Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing and Squash.  Grady loved the squash, but did not seem to enjoy the mashed potatoes.  He sat up to the table in my high chair (circa 1970 something) and he loved it.  The tray was metal so he was able to bang it and make noise.  Much more fun than his plastic one at home.

Today we are headed outside to paint the glider that I bought a year ago and YaYa is coming over to spend some time with us.

Happy Tuesday!
